Casey B. Weade, CFP®, RICP®, CLU®, ChFC®

A fulfilling life begins with pinpointing your purpose. Casey Weade, CEO and Chief Visionary of Howard Bailey Financial, learned this firsthand when he achieved financial independence in his late 20s, unsure of how to utilize his newfound financial freedom. With his focus no longer needing to be on money, the mindset around not only his career but his life in its entirely shifted.

“That was the moment I realized all of my goals had always been about the collection of money and things”, said Weade. “They were void of those most meaningful moments in life.”

For Weade, those moments included time spent with family, being present with his wife and kids, and serving the community. He considered what it might look like to take early retirement, but that didn’t mirror his passion. He reflected on his “why” in life. What did he stand for? Weade knew his purpose was to serve others, and discovered there was a way he could continue to carry that out.

“I realized that giving back doesn’t mean you’re just giving money away to charity,” Weade said. “You can be most effective by utilizing those gifts you have – For me, that was finances; Getting money, making money, investing, financial planning, and goal setting. I uncovered a framework that I used in my own financial life, and without even really thinking about it, I structured a framework that delivered this financial freedom.”

Weade developed the Howard Bailey propriety planning process, known as the Retire With Purpose™ Framework. This framework reflected Casey’s belief that all retirement plans should be driven by meaning and purpose because without purpose, we lack direction.

After years of growing up in the financial world alongside his father and meeting with clients of his own, Weade realized that many people aren’t prepared for the transition into retirement. They spend time thinking about money, but don’t consider the emotional effects of leaving the workforce – the loss of identity, or feeling of “what’s next?” He wanted to help people find their purpose and financial confidence.

Through his role as president of Howard Bailey Financial, Casey now focuses on educating others on how to find fulfillment and financial independence. He has been featured in national media outlets, including The Wall Street Journal, Fox Business, and CNBC. Additionally, Weade hosts the weekly “Retire With Purpose” radio and TV shows, which air across the Midwest, as well as the national “Retire With Purpose Podcast”.

He also turned his inspiration for developing Howard Bailey’s financial planning framework into his latest book, “Job Optional*,” which reached #1 on the Amazon Best Seller List in Retirement Planning, and #5 on the Wall Street Journal Nonfiction eBook Best Seller List. The book was structured as an easy-to-understand guide to pinpointing your purpose, reaching financial freedom, and having the choice to never work again.

Casey continues to prioritize serving, guiding, and educating others every day, as well as making his own education a priority. As a Finance graduate of Stetson University, Casey has also earned several financial designations. He earned his CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ (CFP®) and Retirement Income Certified ProfessionalÒ (RICP®) certifications, as well as his Chartered Life Underwriter® (CLU®) and Chartered Financial Consultant® (ChFC®) designations. When he isn’t helping others find financial freedom, Casey enjoys spending time with the people who bring him the most joy: His wife, Chelsie, and three children; Calvin, Carver, and Chloe. Ryan Nuechterlein

What are your hobbies outside of work?

• I have a collection of around 700 old, de-commissioned street signs. I have always been fascinated by them, and I think because of the design elements: shape, color, typography and standardization. I received my first real sign when I was 5 or 6 years old.
• I also have a 1,000-strong vinyl record collection. I grew up playing my parents' records, recording them on cassette, and making compilations and mixtapes.
• Related to the above, I produce an annual holiday mixtape of underground or long-forgotten Christmas tunes. As much fun as compiling the tracks is designing an album cover each year.

What are some fun facts about you?

• I'm also the proud dad to three amazing daughters!
• When I was much younger, I earned my way to one degree shy of a black belt in Chinese Kenpo.
• I somehow made it into the "Ripley's Believe it or Not!" book for my street sign collection. This led to interviews with the Boston Globe and BBC, as well as invitations to be on Wife Swap and The Jimmy Kimmel Show. (I declined the latter two!)

• My husband and I have season tickets to the Indianapolis Colts. We travel the country to a lot of their away games as well. We have been featured on their social media pages several times, along with an appearance on HBO's series, "Hard Knocks". GO HORSE!
• I rescued Bentley, my chocolate lab mix, ten years ago. He has been by my side through many moves, including my time in college. We have since gotten a golden retriever, Oakley.
• I enjoy taking them on hikes, walks, Tincap's games, and to local bars and restaurants.
• I stay active by playing beach volleyball during the summer and indoor during the colder seasons.
• My husband has his own photography business with his specialty being in sports. I enjoy traveling along and learning the art of photography.
